Certified Plant Professional Exam

Nursery Professional

What It Is

The Georgia Green Industry Certified Plant Professional Exam-Retail Specialist consists of a written exam and a plant identification exam. The written test is based on a study manual available through the association and features 100 multiple choice questions. To pass the written exam, you must answer 70 questions correctly. The second portion of the exam is plant identification. You will observe 100 plant specimens from which you must correctly identify 70 specimens. The plant list provided in the manual names all the possible specimens which might be included in the test.

The Certified Plant Professional Exam-Retail Specialist is given twice per year. The first exam is administered each January at the annual GGIA Conference and Trade Show held at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia.  The second exam is administered in conjunction with the Southern Nursery Association Trade Show at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA each August.

How Do I Register?

It's easy! Simply complete the Test Application Form (in its entirety) and return it with your payment to the GGIA Office, P.O. Box 369, Epworth, GA 30541.

How Much Does It Cost?

The pre-registration fee of $150 for members or $225 for non-members includes a newly revised Study Manual and a reserved place for the test. Your manual will be sent to you at the address on your application. Personal checks take about two weeks to clear the banking process; therefore, your shipment will not be mailed until 10 working days have passed.

How Do I Know If I Passed?

Test results (raw scores) are mailed to your home within 14 working days from the test date. A "pass/did not pass" result is sent to your employer.

What If I Don't Pass Everything?

If you pass one portion of the exam, you do not have to repeat that portion as long as you attempt to retake the portion you did not pass within one year from the initial test date. You must register to retake the exam. The fee is $50 for members and $75 for non-members.

What If I Can't Take The Test On The Date I Registered?

Just notify the GGIA Office (706) 632-0100, and we will shift your test date to the next opportunity.

What Do I Need To Bring To The Exam?

You should bring a copy of your registration form (just in case!). You will be provided with answer sheets and pencils. You should dress comfortably and arrive at least 30 minutes before the exam is scheduled to begin.

What If I Don't Pre-register?

You can register on-site. However, you will not have the opportunity to study from the manual and the test prices will be higher. For members registering on-site, the fee is $170; for non-members the fee is $245. The exam retest on-site registration fee is $75 for members and $100 for non-members.

When Is The Test Given?

The date for the exam is:  Thursday, August 09, 2007 at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia
