GGIA Announces 2026 Scholarship Winners Honored at Southeast Green

The Georgia Green Industry Association is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 scholarships, recognizing outstanding students who are preparing to make a lasting impact on Georgia’s green industry.

These students were formally recognized during the awards ceremony at Southeast Green 2026 on June 11 in Athens—an opportunity to celebrate their achievements alongside industry leaders from across the state.

Through the Bill Inabinet Scholarship and the Wilbur Mull Endowed Scholarship, GGIA continues its commitment to supporting the next generation of horticulture and agriculture professionals.

Bill Inabinet Scholarship Recipients

The Bill Inabinet Scholarship Program was created to support students who aspire to become future leaders in the green industry. Named in memory of longtime industry leader Bill Inabinet, the program reflects his belief that education is key to cultivating strong leadership and advancing the industry.

Addy Christian

A junior majoring in ornamental horticulture at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Addy is actively involved in the Horticulture Club, Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and her church community.

“Receiving this scholarship is a true blessing and an encouragement as I pursue my degree in ornamental horticulture. It helps support my education and moves me closer to my goal of starting a produce and cut flower farm that can serve my community,” she said.

Yan Zhang

Yan is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia Griffin campus, where she conducts research focused on integrated pest management strategies for invasive thrips in ornamental greenhouse systems.

Her work aims to help growers maintain plant quality while reducing pest populations through practical, sustainable solutions.

“I am honored to receive the Bill Inabinet Scholarship and grateful for the support from the Georgia Green Industry Association. This recognition motivates me to continue developing practical pest management strategies that support growers and strengthen the sustainability of the ornamental plant industry,” she said.

John Reid Foell

A junior majoring in agribusiness at the University of Georgia, John has gained hands-on experience in plant breeding, nursery operations, and landscape management. Mentored by Dr. Michael Dirr, he plans to pursue a career as a plant breeder.

“This scholarship is an investment in my future. It allows me to focus on my education, expand my experience, and continue pursuing a career I am deeply passionate about,” he said.

Wilbur Mull Endowed Scholarship Recipient

The Wilbur Mull Endowed Scholarship was created to support students in non-horticulture fields whose interests align with the green industry. The program honors Wilbur Mull’s legacy of promoting and advancing the green industry throughout his career.

Breanna Harris

A junior agricultural education major in the honors program at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Breanna is passionate about agriculture, marine science, and environmental education. She is a lifelong Girl Scout and was an active FFA member, earning her American FFA Degree in 2025.

“I am very grateful to be a recipient of this scholarship. This award brings me closer to achieving my academic and career goals of becoming an agricultural and environmental educator, allowing me to invest in future generations of students and continue making a positive impact in my community,” she said.
